The name AdViSE stands for Advanced Visualisation and Simulation Environment. As its name implies the architecture has two central components that are;

• Modeling and Simulation (M&S) Framework
• 2D/3D Visualization Kernel

Principally it is being developed as a library to satisfy modeling and simulation needs of various M&S applications . The M&S library has the following features;

Behavior modeling of entities within a range of simple to complex action domains. It allows domain experts to easily model their objects without significant simulation expertise.
Mission based scenario definition and storage facilities. You could make up complex scenarios using previously defined mission packages
Real time execution of complex model dynamics taking the cross interactions into account and preserving causality among simulation participants.
A distributed execution framework allowing HLA and Non-HLA components to exist within the same simulation run. It coordinates simulation life-time and also manages time synchronization as well as messaging in distributed fashion.
Analysis and Debriefing tools for flexibly accommodating different analysis algorithms into one single application. Parameters and variables to be analyzed could be mounted by users in run-time. Reports could be generated in custom formats.

The 2D/3D Visualization Kernel can be used for;

2D visualization features:

  • Overlaying of different layers on top of each other,
  • Management of any object/primitive placement on any layer,
  • Infrastructure available for different map and image fotmats (DTED, DEM, S57, Vector Formats, Air and Satellite Photographs etc.)
  • Transparent multi-layer composition,
  • Distance calculation between two points on a map,
  • Displaying geographical information such as height and coordinate information (latitude and longitude information),
  • Marking and labeling of regions inside a map,
  • Zoom and camera options for giving details of maps,
3D visualization features:

  • OpenGL based,
  • 3D Mesh generation,
  • Texture mapping,
  • Real-time weather and atmospheric conditions visualization (fog, snow, rain etc.),
  • Lighting effects,
  • Various camera views,
  • Real-time motion generation,

The kernel is designed to be a generic and flexible utility for real-time Command and Control (C2) visualization problems. The library could lend itself for diverse needs of tactical picture generation and manipulation.
